Robert Johnson's Biography

Bob Johnson began his career as a Perfusionist and Cardio-Pulmonary Technologist at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he eventually became the Administrator for the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. He went on to hold senior leadership positions at several prominent healthcare institutions, including Sr. Associate COO for Duke Hospital, VP of Administration at Baylor College of Medicine, and Executive Director of anesthesia services at UPMC.

Bob has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, and an MBA from Loyola University in Baltimore. In addition to his academic background, he has held executive roles in for-profit companies, such as Chief Business Development Officer for Sheridan Healthcare, VP of hospital-based physicians at Hospital Corporation of America (HCA:180 hospitals.) and VP of Business Development for Premier Anesthesia.

He has extensive experience in the management and operations of anesthesia services and is considered an industry expert. Prior to joining Surgical Directions, he was the President of Physician Hospital Services Consulting (PHSC) LLC, a healthcare consulting company.
