Tom Blasco's Biography

Thomas Blasco MD, MS has 40+ years of clinical experience as an anesthesiologist/intensivist working in and managing tertiary care level hospital operating rooms, critical care units and free-standing ASCs. For over two decades, as a founding partner of Surgical Directions, working with scores of clients, he has become a recognized leader in successful organizational improvement of patient-centric surgical care. He writes and lectures extensively on his experiences in the current value-driven transformation of patient care in the US.

He has held academic positions at Northwestern University and University of Chicago as well as Associate Chair of Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine in the Advocate Healthcare System and most recently as Medical Director of Illinois Bone and Joint Institute.

He received his clinical training at Loyola University of Chicago and University of California, San Diego. He has a Master of Science in Administrative Medicine from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
